My grout in my ceramic floor has discolored over the years and looks terrible.  Can you re-grout your ceramic floor?

 

Yes, grout can be removed using various tools generally a grout saw or electric reciprocating or rotary tool.  However, sometimes if the grout itself is solid and shows no cracking, contacting a professional grout restoration / cleaning company will improve the look immensely.  Issues of staining and discoloration of new grout can be minimized by using specific grouts with treatments to improve stain and soil resistance.  Removal of grout is a messy and laborious process if done by hand, and you must be careful to remove all the grout while not chipping the tiles themselves.  It is not advisable to only re-grout portions of an area as difference in color old and new will be very apparent.  Consult a professional tile cleaning company first to see if the appearance can be improves.  If not, seek out a company who will remove and re-grout.
