I have seen different sheens on hardwood floors. How do I choose the one that is right for me?
The higher the sheen level the more likely you are to see scuffing, foot traffic, and scratches. This is also dependent on the actual finish used as well. The most popular sheen level we are seeing is a matte or satin finish. This tends to be more forgiving in showing damage and provides a more oil-rubbed natural look to the grain of the wood while minimizing maintenance. A brushed finish though not specifically a sheen level is also popular especially when involving an active family with children and pets. Ask your flooring expert on the appropriate sheen level that suits your esthetics and lifestyle.
