Can I repair nicks and scratches in my laminate flooring?
Yes, depending on the depth and severity of the damage can mean either replacing an individual plank or touch up repairs. replacing a plank is best left up to a professional but minor repairs are quite simple.
There are different products available. Putty and wax coloured sticks work fine for minor scratches and small chips. Just fill in and remove the excess from the surface. Deeper gouges and damage mean using specific filler in a one or two part process. Depending on the depth of the damage may require more than one application. Acrylic based fillers work very well and require no solvents to deal with.
Allow sufficient curing time and remove excess material being careful to not smear it over the surface. Always keep extra planks or tiles when possible for replacement of badly damaged laminate.
